Scott Loftin - Chief Solutions Officer
Scott Loftin directs technology, strategy, and product development for all Carpio solutions. Scott oversees product roadmaps and ensures technical excellence and reliable performance for all of Carpio's software products. He also acts as a strategic technology consultant with particular focus on web-centric architectures.
Prior to the formation of Carpio, Scott was the founding CTO of HowStuffWorks (www.HowStuffWorks.com), the leading reference web site on the Internet (now owned by Discovery Communications). He drove its evolution from a "kitchen table" web site into a cost-effective, high availability, database-driven web site serving tens of millions of visitors per month.
Scott's 20-year career in informational technology spans the private and public sectors across multiple industries, including mobile communications, clinical R&D, and optical fiber manufacturing. He spent 10 years developing complex commercial customer information and billing systems for the paging, natural gas and propane industries. Scott's entrepreneurial successes also include founding a leading local ISP in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Scott has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from North Carolina State University, with additional studies in Artificial Intelligence.
